Welcome to my Life, "Please Come In"

Little fashionable me! As you can see I started to become aware of fashion at a very early age. I wish I had that little hat and coat today.

I love designing vintage inspired clothing. My signature line, "Vintage By Bonni Lanese" was born. I've always loved old movies, the glamour the wonderful fashions, hairstyles and also the home furnishings of the times. Sometimes I'm so engrossed in looking at all the backround etc. I forget to listen to the dialog of the movie.

Everyday I create something new. Sometimes it's just in my mind but will come to life eventually, and thank you for visiting me.

back to work

A friend recently gave me her prom dress from the 1960's. I was inspired to refashion it into two little girl princes dresses for my little grand daughters. Julia age 2 & Kayla age 3. The original sweetiepies! These are their Christmas gifts so I can't have a picture of them until the new year.

making homemade lasagna YUM YUM

My husband Joseph is an awesome chef. He does all the cooking in our house and all the shopping too. Lucky me!!!! His food is so wonderful, I have cooking amnesia which has been my strategy. We made lasagna over the weekend, he makes his own pasta and the lasagna is no exception. I'm just the helper outer.

It's going to Hawaii

A lovely dress and looks so fabulous on Alice. She will be wearing it in Hawaii this winter, walking the beach looking so sweet. I hope to get a photo of Alice on location wearing the dress. My vision is complete. I'll be making two more dresses for her. We have in mind an Audry Hepburn dress and a Jackie O dress. I will be searching for fabric and starting the projects soon.

whistle while you work

I have been thinking, pondering, creating, designing, enjoying. I was hoping to have some wonderful photos from the fashion show. When I went to take shots of my display there was no photo card in my camera. Oh darn!!

working, working, working

I feel like one of the seven dwarfs, working all the day long. I have a new work room, I'm so very happy with it. I see the birds eating from the feeder all day, I see my flowers it's wonderful. I'm working on Alice's dress. I got my dress form for fittings and it's so helpful. I'm also making 100 glamour girl robes for the Art Alliance Fashion Show in 2 weeks. OK, back to work. This was my 10 minute union break.

Newest designs for Alice

I love this peach crepe fabric with a silk overlay for the skirt. It will be a fabulous neckline. I call it the Marilyn because it looks so much like the type of cloths that Marilyn Manroe would have worn. This dress has a great drop fitted waist and a swing skirt. So very feminine and pretty. I'm starting to work on it this week.
I'm going to leave you with another quip: That was a great one from Bette Midler, I love it!!

YIPEE What a great show

I met my long time high school girlfriend up at the Island this last weekend, Put-In-Bay, Ohio. She is a wonderful artist, becoming quite accomplished. We set up next to each other for their annual Art In The Park Art Show. It was loads of fun and very rewarding in many ways. My friend Marsha, and I got to spend the weekend together at her parents place. She lives in Pensacola Florida so we don't get to see each other but twice a year. Friendships are so very important and they become more and more valuable as we become older.
Reminds me of another quip:
We are no longer passing through the world, but digging deep and collecting moments.

Quips and wisdom's from bonni

Glamour Girl Robes by the Millions

A Glamour Girl robe is a vintage style robe made similar to a 1940's dress. Made of chenille fabric, sometimes made from bedspreads in a past life. this makes them very unique. I also make them of fleece for winter and light weight stretch satin in floral prints for warm weather. The fitted style with the tie front is the most popular style but I also make a swing coat style too.

Making something from nothing

Hello friends, The last two days I have been babysitting my grandchildren. Loads of fun,in fact 3 years ago when my first grandaughter was born my "Sweetiepie Originals" childrens clothing line was also born. It is so fun creating these unique little girl styles; dresses, sweaters & jackets. I'm always refashioning from adult sweaters. They give me enough yardage to make one childs jacket or sweater and possibly something for an adult too. These two piles of sweaters are just the tip of the iceburg from my resorces for designing.

I have a FREE Day

I'm going to sew ALL day. Hello friends, I feel like I'm writing letters which I really love to do. Today I plan on finishing several of those robes. I'm getting ready for a big show up at the Island of Lake Erie, Put-In-Bay, Ohio. Marsha, my long time girlfriend from high school will be joining me up there. She lives in Florida now, I miss her. Her parents have a wonderful island retreat there for 50 years now, WOW. It's peaceful and grand. We used to sneak up there with our boyfriends back in the 60's and bumb around. We weren't too naughty, just enough!
