Welcome to my Life, "Please Come In"

Little fashionable me! As you can see I started to become aware of fashion at a very early age. I wish I had that little hat and coat today.

I love designing vintage inspired clothing. My signature line, "Vintage By Bonni Lanese" was born. I've always loved old movies, the glamour the wonderful fashions, hairstyles and also the home furnishings of the times. Sometimes I'm so engrossed in looking at all the backround etc. I forget to listen to the dialog of the movie.

Everyday I create something new. Sometimes it's just in my mind but will come to life eventually, and thank you for visiting me.

MAD MEN DRESSES, I LOVE THEM DON'T YOU???

Oh yes, I've made many dresses with inspiration from the 50's and 60's styles.  I make specialty wardrobes for individual clients.  The Mad Men dressess that you see on the AMC TV show, & love, I can make them for you. These creations take a little time, to hunt down just the right fabric and then construct. I use Mood Fabrics in New York and Virginia Marti. I will need good measurements of the client, a deposit and I'm on my way. You often can have a fabulous custom made dress for an amazing price, depending on the fabric choice of course.
If you haven't seen the show than go to your library and get the dvd of all 4 seasons. It's fabulous, & the story is pretty good too!!

Remember that all my garments are American made by ME!!

It takes much thought to see a project to the end. Enjoyment all along the way. Creating, pondering, searching for the right fabric, design, layout, construction, fitting, sewing, sewing and more sewing. It's a passion.

Things I'm working on

I've been so very busy working on many projects. A friend gave me this wonderful black and white tafetta. I made this 1950's style swing coat which I love. I imagine someone wearing black satin pants & a very slim cami under this coat. Yes? Yes? Yes?
More treasures coming soon.

I love this red fitted jacket

Wonderful spring weight wool, in a fabulous RED. Looks marvelous on Kay, YIPPEE.
I've started working on my next project for Kay, a beautiful knit in black and white speckle. It will be a classic dress with a little vintage flair. I'll have photos soon.

It isn't enough to have talent!

You also have to have a talent for having talent. How do we know? Is it measured by how much we have sold or by how much money is in the bank or by how much enthusiasm people have when commenting on our work? Of course that always helps. I think talent is measured by the passion you go forth with ones creations. The pleasure it gives you when a project is complete. YIPPEE, it's done and my client loves it! That's talent.
Enjoy my newest crushed velvet 1920's style opera coat, very yummy.
